Plans for the Reunion

From Steve Gregory's Email:

Dear Classmates,

The 50th Class Reunion, Quincy High School Graduating Class of 1963, will be held Saturday, September 14th, 2013 in Quincy. This is the same day as the Quincy Farmer Consumers Awareness Day Celebration.  Although, this is 6 months from now, there will be many people coming to Quincy and other class reunions thus; we need to start finalizing some of our plans.  At this time we are in need of feedback from all of you!  We need this information as soon as possible to continue our planning and please, no later than April 1st.

  1.  At this time, are you planning to attend?

  2.  How many in your party i.e., spouse, partner, friend?

  3.  Are you going to need lodging? (We are trying to get some group rate quotes)

  4.  Do you wish to also meet for breakfast Sunday AM?

  5.  Would you like us to have some sort of entry in the Saturday Morning parade?

(my sis' class had a flat bed truck that several of them just stood on and waved to

the 1000's of people lining the streets...she told me it was fun)   :)

Now, the difficult part; our late Saturday aft/eve gathering.  In the past we have experienced different "formats" i.e., sit down dinners, pizza at the former A & W Root Beer stand  :) George Community Center years ago...etc., etc. I believe a "sit down dinner" is almost impossible unless we opt to travel to Wenatchee.  There is a possibility in that Quincy has a community center where we could all gather and have it "catered"! We are looking into the costs.

Here is an idea! It would be fun to do a BBQ in someone's backyard.   My sis' class has used a classmates' backyard and said it was the most fun of all the reunions they have experienced.  What do you think? Is there someone in our class with a big backyard?  The local community Park is another option.

Besides our own events, here are some of the other day's events;  Grand Parade, Farm to Market Fun Run, Live Entertainment, Cook-Offs, Arts and Crafts, Car Show!

I will schedule a committee meeting to make all the final decisions as soon as we have all your replies.  At that point we will be able to provide more details of any costs involved.

Thanks,

Steve

ps  A big thanks goes out to Ray Ruppert, Jerry Solein and Patty Stetner for their help in obtaining your information

We do not have phone numbers or, email addy's for the following people;  Alan Spencer, Aldean Clark, Bill Jones, Don Homer, Douglas McFarland, Ed Bews, Emily Watson (Vann)  Gene Conduff, Greg Parker, Jim Brown, Joe Villareal, Larry Yates, Larry Newton, Marie Taylor (Douglas), Marjorie Trunky (Nelson), Marlene Enders (Schultz), Melvin Knapp, Nedra Hatherill (Chisum) Richard Feltus, Rod & Linda Lewison, Stan Gilchrist, Tom Tharp

I hope I haven't left anyone out.  If I have, please forgive me!  :)

Planning Sessions

Hello Fellow Classmates  :)

Hope all is well and everyone is in good health!  It's planning time for our 50th! :)

The message pasted below is one I sent out to our classmates in the Quincy area.  At least, I hope I sent out to everyone!  :)  It's self explanatory as to what is transpiring but, I wanted everyone to know.

Just so you can tentatively put on your calendar we are planning our 50th Class Reunion for Sept 2013 during the Traditional Quincy Farmer's Consumer Awareness Day!  This is a great day as other classes will be doing the same so, a chance to see many of our former friends.  We will keep everyone informed of exact date and any updates.  (I think it's the 2nd weekend of Sept)

If you have any feedback/input feel free to contact me.  As soon as we get this set up and certain people involved with the various tasks, we will let everyone know in case you need to contact that individual.

This is just the starting point.  :)  But, I wanted to get the ball rolling!  Some of our classmates have already been working on it i.e., Ray Ruppert & Jerry Sorlien!  :)  I think Ray has set up a "blog site or, web site" which might make it easy for everyone to communicate with one another.  Back to you w/ more info on that...it's above my "tech" expertise.  lol

Steve

Hello "One & All"  :)

It's time to get the ball rolling.  :)  I'm coming down to Quincy either the 1st or, 2nd weekend of November.  I would like to know if anyone is available to get together and start the planning of this "big event"!  :)

If you can get back to me and let me know your availability then I will pick one of those weekends from all the responses.  Where can we meet?  Is morning better or, afternoons?  Saturday or, Sunday?  Monday am?  Obviously, we won't be able to meet everyone's schedules.

Topic's for discussion;
  1.  Do we want some sort of entry for the parade?
  2.  Meeting place at the field where everyone is present for the day's activities.
  3.  Late afternoon or, evening get together?  Or, both?  Where?
  4.  Breakfast next morning? Where?
  5.  Hotel accommodations for those attending from out of town.
  6.  Review our list of classmate's names, address, phone numbers
  7.  Anything else???

I am not "running this show" just trying to co-ordinate and get off the ground!  :)  So far, we have several people already working on this i.e., Ray Ruppert has put in a lot of time already.  Both Ray and Jerry Sorlein have made phone calls.  Thanks to both of you!  If I have missed anyone, I apologize.  Just know, everyone will appreciate your efforts.

It would be great to have a good turn-out for this initial meeting so we can make our 50th one to remember.  :)  Please feel free to contact me at this web site.

tks
Steve
ps  these are the only email addy's I have for classmates in the Quincy area.  Didn't have one for Dick Hale or, Don Hardt.  Please call these guys and anyone else in the area, so we can have a great turn out.

I contacted Patty Stener in Quincy today. She will be sending me a list of email addresses and information from our 40th reunion. Hopefully we will get enough contact information to be able to spread the word and get some idea of what people want for our 50th.

Please fill out our contact form to make sure that we have your current information.
